Questions like “Will I ever get married?” “Will he ever propose to me?” “Am I marriage material?” and “Am I loveable?” often surface when you’ve been single for a long time, repeatedly experience breakups, or see everyone around you getting married. These doubts can erode your self-esteem as you search for reasons.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 reminds us that “time and chance” happen to everyone. It’s not always the fastest person who wins the race, or the most beautiful size 0 woman who gets the man. Similarly, it’s not always the strongest warrior who wins the battle or the richest man who gets the girl. Life is unpredictable, and opportunities come to us all.
If you ever find yourself doubting whether you’re marriage material, remember: life is full of surprises and opportunities. Trust that in God’s perfect timing, the right moment will come for you. The answer lies in understanding that time and chance happen to everyone, including you.
“I returned and saw under the sun that—
The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favor to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.” Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NKJV)
