Giving your heart to someone you love, who then breaks it is a painful experience - he cheated, she was unfaithful, she rejected me, he walked out on me, left me standing at the altar!
This first thing is to not deny your pain. Heartbreak needs healing just like a physical wound does.
Seek God first, go to Him in prayer, cry out and pour out yourself on Him, He is always there with open arms. Give your heart to God to mend and keep it safe.
It's important to allow yourself to feel all your raw emotions, like anger, to cry, the guilt, the regret. The worst thing you could do is bottle it all up and put on a brave face and slowly be dying on the inside.
Make sure you seek help from your parents, family, best friends or pastoral team. Surround yourself with people who truly love you and want what is best for you.
Where it is reasonably possible, break all communication with that person until you are ready and strong enough to move forward after what's happened.
Go on a vacation by yourself or with one close friend, it will help you get perspective, separate yourself from your day-to-day routine, to focus on prayer and spending time in God's presence where the healing begins.
Write about how you feel in a journal, write it as if you are writing to the person who broke your heart, not with the intention of sending it to them but as a process of letting out how you feel.
Remember, only God can heal you, not another relationship. So please give yourself the time before even considering dating again, you must wait until you are fully healed and restored.
